We have a new PXI-1083 chassis with Thunderbolt communication. In it, we have a PXIe-5412 function generator (as well as a PXIe-6355). The communcation was never working and we thought it was a problem with the new Thunderbolt communication. However, we tried removing the function generator and suddenly everything worked perfectly (even hotplugging the Thunderbolt cable while the PC was on!).
It became clear the the PXIe-5412 was the problem. Whatever we tried, different slots, different PCs, different thunderbolt cable, reinstalling windows, multiple thunderbolt drivers, have FGEN runtime installed/uninstalled. Whenever the PXIe-5412 was plugged in, the communication failed. What I mean by that is, that even though the link LED would be green, the chassis doesn't show up in NI MAX. The installed boards do show up, but with a 'hardware failure' error.

If I remove the function generator, all is working well as you can see below:

So, it is clear that the function generator is the problem, but we don't know why. Since it is compatible with the latest FGEN driver. We weren't able to find any compatibility between the PXIe-5412 and the PXI-1083 chassis, but we assume it is ok since it's PXI anyway. Is the PXIe-5412 board broken maybe? Why does it break communication with other boards as well?

We were able to test the PXIe-5412 board on an older PXIe-1073 chassis with an MXI-connection and the board is well detected and functioning. Does this mean that the board is simply not compatible with the newer PXI chassis?
