Does anybody know what the power resistor (6Ohms, 50W) is for?

I changed the power supply and don't know its right to connect it directly to 12V?

It looks like a heater ... does the manual says something about housing temperature control?

Or a minimum load for the switched power supply?

I'm afraid no one from NI is going to share with you the details of Internal Chassis Construction. I strongly recommend sending your device for RMA in case it does not work as expected.

I think this is no secret. I can save 1/3 of the power if the resistor is disconected. So I installed a Switch for it. I think the resistor is for heating.
