PXI-8156 Press F1 to Resume

I have a PXI-8156 that is failing to boot. the hard drive is definitely bad but I wanted to prove out the controller itself by booting from the floppy. However, upon clearing the CMOS and trying to boot after this I get:

16000KB OK

WAIT...

After which is stays there forever. I found that if I press any key I finally get:

CMOS Date/Time Not Set

RUN SETUP

Press F1 to Resume

After that it is in no-mans land and will not respond to any key press. In fact the Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll Lock leds do not light up when these keys are pressed, they only blip on during the Pre-boot phase. The floppy does not do a seek and neither do I get the "Hit <Del> if you want to run setup" message.

My thought is that this is either a controller issue or ram, anyone experienced this and have a work around to get this to boot or into the BIOS?

Thanks.

Hi,

Based on the CMOS Date/TIme Not Set error, it sounds like the CMOS Battery is dead: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/277524-45-cmos-checksum-cmos-date-time-press-setup-press#.

NI reccomends sending in the Controller for a replacement battery, becasue it requires special tools to replace. Unfortunatley, becasue the controller is over 10 years old, we no longer will be bale to repair it.

NI does not support user replacement of this battery, as you may damage a component or connections.

At this point, you can try to replace it yourself, or get a new controller.
