We are in the process of upgrading the laser and detection setup in our lab. But I don´t want to have to change the program so much (I know nothing of programing). We are currently using visual basic 4.0 on a XP windows computer. Is the PXI-6255 cards with DAQmx compatible with this system? Many thanks

Hello Mirabelle,
in principle it depends on your program whether it able to communicate with the M-Serie cards like PXI-6255. But I suppose, if you are using VB 4.0 the programm is older, than the M-cards, so you will not be able to use it easy way to communicate with the cards. I even don't know what is possible with VB 4.0, if you able to call dlls, then you will also be able to communicate with card using the DAQmx drivers.
However in VB 6.0 it is possible. For this here are some links with examples.

But if you really do not know nothing of programming, probably the better way would be to get in touch with LabVIEW?
Kind regards,
Sergei

This is surely not a bad idea :-). I think to learn/program LabVIEW is much more intuitiv than do it in Basic.
I wish you success with your application,
kind regards,
Sergei
