NI-DMM soft panel can not start

Solved!
Go to solution

Why would this error be only DMM specific if it's 8360 related? I'm running 13 cards in 1045 without single issue and only 4065 gives me this headache.

So, 1085 has embedded controller, but unfortunately It's quite busy right now and I will not have possibility to swap cards there in a while.

As I said 4065 works in 1085. So it should not be DMM hardware problem. I think it's software related. I got uninstalled everything NI related and left only NI-DMM with required software and still having the same error.

Will look into swapping controller card and report back.

Thanks,

Sergiy

OK,

I tried the following: DMM card completely removed (others cards in places) reinstalled only NI-DMM rest of NI software is removed completely from the system.

Trying to start DMM soft panel gives 2 errors:

1. No card detected (simulate?)

2. Once any input is given to this pop-up message the old error message appears (something missing form DMM - reinstall everything)

First one is expected and I was able replicate it on 1085 system.

Another one is exactly same as the old one.

Tries additionally DMM 14 and 15.1 to no avail.

Clearly software issue with my system - unfortunately no idea how to solve it.

Keep you posted.

Sergiy,

Can you try force reinstalling the DMM drivers instead of just uninstalling/reinstalling them? When you perform a normal uninstall, it doesn't remove as many files as a force reinstallation would. If one of these files that isn't removed became corrupted at some point, then it's possible the uninstall/reinstall wouldn't change the error but a force reinstallation would. I've provided a link below on how to perform a force reinstallation.

"Force Reinstall Non-working or Corrupt NI Software": https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z000000P8U0SAK

Additionally, would you be able to generate a MAX technical report after performing this force reinstallation? It will allow me to see exactly what software has been installed and whether or not an error or corruption occurred during installation of the drivers. I've provided a link below for instructions on generating a MAX technical report.

Hi Daniel.

Unfortunately I did not read your post before committing to brutal force fix...

So, reinstall windows and all NI products fixed the issue. Soft panel starts right now but I do not have card to test it with yet. Will keep you posted.

Well that's probably a more comprehensive fix anyway. Glad it seems like it's working. If it does work after testing with the card, feel free to mark your own post as the solution.

So,

I tested NI-DMM with PXI-4065 and it does work flawlessly.

So for the future reference if someone have errors in PXI DMM cards recognition by drivers, no device temperature and no DMM soft panel start the following are the fixes:

1. Do force reinstall drivers as Daniel suggested (have no experimental proof on this one)

2. Reinstall everything including Windows (brutal force solution but worked for me)

Hope this helps someone.
