Is there any way to do a "ping" FROM an RT controller?

Hi. I was wandering if it is possible to do a "ping" from a PXI-RT controller.
I'm planning to make an RT application which detects if certain windows PC is present on the network.

Thank for your comments.

A little while ao someone posted a Raw socket ping for Win2K. I've included the .llb here. You can use this from a PXI running Windows. I have not tried it with an RTOS system.

I hope that this is of some help.

Hi, Rob, thank you for your post.
I've tested this .llb on my winXP machine and it works quite fine. I still haven't tried it on RTOS, but I found that it uses a shared library called ws2_32.dll, which I found on my windows/system32 directory. However I'll see if I can make it run on RTOS and I'll be telling you how was it.

Thank you!

Daniel,
I would be surprised if you are able to get that library working using the RTOS.  One way to do this would be to simply open a TCP connection to the target IP address and see if it times out, then handle your various cases from there.
