Can you be more specific? What hardware are you using? What are you trying to do? What OS (Windows or RT)?

If you are using LabVIEW 8.0, and NI-RIO 2.0, go to the Project Explorer window with the project that has the bitfile that you want to download to the FPGA, then right click on the FPGA Target, select Download Bitfile or Attributes into Flash Memory, a window will pop-up select the Bitfile from the VI that you want and click the Download VI button. I hope this answers your question.

Does NI have a utility that can be used to download a bitfile to an FPGA target without using the LabVIEW project? I am looking for some utility that can be used in the field to download a bitfile without having to install full-blown LabVIEW on the laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Anthony,

Yes, absolutely. The utility is called the RIO Device Setup, and can be found on the start menu under Programs»National Instruments»NI-RIO»RIO Device Setup.

It is a great utility for downloading bitfiles, having them run automatically at startup, etc.

Best regards,
