How to cofigure direct Dma on PXI system.

Good morning,

I try to found some information to improve the data transfer performance on my PXI system.

I found that it's possible to configure and use direct Dma to transfer data from an hard drive to a device, but I'm not sure that it's related to my hardware configuration.

My system is configure as follow:

- PCI controller on host computer;

- MXI-4 copper cable from host to PXI controller;

- PXI-8331 controller on PXI-1031 chassis;

- PXI-5422 arbitrary waveform generator device.

My target is to implement a continuos transmission using the waveform generator, and I need to perform a better data transfer rate from host to PXI.

So, my specific questions are:

- Can I use direct DMA?

- How can I configure it? And which host parameters I have to found?

About the possibility to use direct DMA with your system it is important to know which pc do you have. Here you can find the informations you need.

For the configuration of the system you just have to set Direct DMA in Data Transfer Mechanism instance on DAQ property Node. Here the document.
