FlexRIO PXIe 7971R & Adapter 5783 - Changing the Input Voltage Range

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi

I'm using LabVIEW FPGA with a FlexRIO PXIe 7971R and an adapter 5783 (4 outputs HDBNC (200 MHz) - 4 inputs HDBNC (100MHz)). I want to know if it is possible to change the range of the inputs (only one input or every input, i don't care).

The specifications tell me the range of inputs is -1V to 1V. For my application (acoustic monitoring), I want to reduce the noise, to increase the SNR. A range of -/+0.1 V or -/+ 0.2 V would be nice.

Is it feasible? In which way on LabVIEW FPGA?

Thanks

Whatever the 5783 gives you is the limitation here; nothing more can be done on the LabVIEW FPGA side.  The input range cannot be changed.

Adding an external amplifier to help come closer to the input range of the 5783.

Thank you for the answer!

I will try the amplifier solution.
