Channel General properties:Description

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I am trying to identify my different input channels of the PXI I am using and I would like to use the "General Properties:Description" field to do it. The problem seems to be really simple but I cannot find how to write this field...Capture.PNG

How can I modify it? It always generates void when I set a description in the channel constant VI or in the create channel VI.

Thanks,

Oscar

Hi Oscar,

To write to a property in LabVIEW you need to right click on the property node, and select 'Change All To Write'. By using this property in write mode, a description for each channel can be set, which can then be extracted using the same property in read mode.

See the attached screenshots for reference.

Hi Tom-S,

Thanks for your help. That's what I thought after a while.

At the very beginning I asked this because I thought "General properties:Description" output what you write in Description and Tip (when you right click on Create Channel vi.). But no, it actually outputs what you previously set on "General properties:Description".

Thanks indeed.
