Can't find driver for "PCI device" (NI-Serial is installed + 2X of PXI-8420)

Installed LabVIEW 8.5 RTE

Installed LabVIEW 8.5 (Eval)

Installed NI-Serial V3.5.0,

Next installed two PXI-8420 16 port serial cards,

System found many new devices that installed successfully - many to do with the serial cards,

Remaining item: System found new hardware "PCI Device"

Can't find driver for device

In the past installing NI-Serial would fix this.

What to do?

Hi Jeff,

I would start by looking in Measurement and Automation Explorer to determine if one of your serial cards is not showing up or if this is a 3rd card that doesn't have drivers.

If it is a serial card that is not showing up, you may want to try putting th card in a new slot, this sometimes helps cards get recognized.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks

Both serial cards are recognized fine.  The only other serial in the system is on the controller.

If all your serial ports are showing up properly then the PCI device is probably un related to NI-Serial, are you expecting any other cards to be present that aren't showing up in Measurement & Automation Explorer?

The following knowledge base article might help you determine what kind of card your dealing with:

PCI Simple Communications Controller

Let us know what you find.

Thanks
