Can no longer connect to PXI chassis, corrupted?

We have 1044 Chassis with a 8106 Controller.  System has been successfully up and running for some time.  Locked up today and on a reboot can not reconnect to it.  By reconnect - can not connect to it through the project, can not connect to it through MAX.  We can successfully ping the controller.  Thought it may be an issue with the startup vi on it (though we have not changed it), but can not FTP to the chassis either (using an non NI client that has previously worked).  Plugged a monitor into the chassis, reboot and no errors seen (screen shows network connection and the controllers IP address, CPU etc. at 0% load).

Before I begin reformatting/reloading any suggestions?

Hi bradh,

Are you able to boot the PXI controller into Safe Mode? If so, can you see it in MAX while in Safe Mode?

Hi Bradh,

I realize this is an older posting, but did you ever resolve this PXI issue?

We have a customer with a PXI-8106 that has been running for 12 years without any difficulties. Last week, the system suddenly stopped performing it's regular functions. So far, they have been unable to restore regular operations.

After reboot, the power switch LED glows green for a short time, but then goes to flashing red. Based on what we are seeing on the monitor, the PXI appears to be booting as expected and entering the user program. However, the software appears to be not functioning, and we are unable to establish a network connection to the controller. (The controller appears in MAX, but the link icon appears broken, and we can't make a connection to the device in MAX.)

We are able to ping it using the assigned IP address, but that's all we can do.

Any suggestions? Is it likely a hardware failure on this older PXI controller (or chassis)?

Thanks for any suggestion you might provide,
