That is correct. The 4472 cannot control an SCXI chassis with SCXI modules.

The 4472 already performs some signal conditioning for you-->
ICP excitation and anti-aliasing for example.

However, if you feel that the SCXI-1143 provides signal conditioning that is better suited for your application, you can use one of the E series boards to control the 1143 module.
