Hi All,
Our company's long range Lidar system uses code developed in LabView 2013 for data processing and system control. The NI PXIe computer is using an 8135 Controller. The operating system is Windows 7. The system has been operating for over 7 years but is now experiencing intermittent blue screen shut down events, which occur every 1.5 to 3 days. Is this an indication that the controller is about to fail...?

Not the whole controller but maybe the RAM.

Hi Santhosh,
Thank you for your reply. Actually, we replaced the single 4G RAM Module (which came with the Controller) with two 8G Modules a few weeks ago (we thought the RAM might also be the problem). Unfortunately, the intermittent blue screen problem has continued. Given that the Controller is over 7 years old (and nothing lasts forever), it might be on its last legs (something on the mother board perhaps...). Sadly, replacement 8135 Controllers are hard to find, since they're no longer made by NI. Do you know if NI offers evaluation and repair of components they no longer manufacture?

Question - does it have to be 8135? you can upgrade to the latest ones such as 8881 and get excellent improvement in performance and will be supported for foreseeable future.

Hi Santhosh,
This is a possible solution, unfortunately, the system is out of warranty and our customer most likely doesn't have the funds to afford a new controller. I've been trying to find him lower cost options.
