Wanted - Test Technician

I have an opening for an engineering test technician (not engineer) in our lab.  Prefer 2 or 4-year degree in something technical. Involves lots of hands-on work.

Principal activities involve

  • Setting up equipment for tests.  Attaching instrumentation & verifying that it works, connecting DAQ hardware, setting up DAQ software, etc.
  • Running tests.  Acquire test data, review data and look for anomolies, organize data into human-readable formats, monitor tests, change oil on endurance tests, etc.
  • Presenting results.  Write test reports (we use a nice & simple 1-page summary format - no long-winded 30-page reports here), create meaningful graphs, draw conclusions from test data, etc.
  • Updating regulatory documentation.  All of our products conform to at least ANSI requirements and the documentation has to be created for new products and updated for existing products every year.

Hands-on work involves light fabrication, mower maintenance, instrumentation wiring, oil changes, building prototype mowers, and 5S.

Desk work includes MS Excel (sorry Chad) for report writing, basic LabVIEW VI's, MS Excel for data analysis, miscellaneous paperwork (timesheets, purchase requisitions, test requests), MS Word for ANSI documentation, and MS Excel for everything else.

Experience with LabVIEW, CAD, programming, machine tools, Diadem, and welding is not required, but would be helpful.  Basic blueprint/schematic reading and proficiency in MS Excel is required.

In Beatrice.  40 hours per week, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm M-F.  Salaried w/OT.  Excellent benefits and room for advancement.

We have a great team and are excited about being able to add another member.  We have a lot of fun in the lab and I try to promote an environment that fosters learning and innovation.

The official posting is on our website: www.toro.com.

This position has been filled and the new guy is anxious to get going learning LV.

We will have one or more intern positions opening up in January, so if you're a student looking for a challenging break from school, let me know. $15 / hr. 40 hr / wk.
