What's the purpose of the *.nivsprjcache file?

I noticed there is a file in my Veristand source folder with an extension: nivsprjcache

Can this file be safely deleted. I checked this page but didn't see any reference to it:

Hi MichaelAivaliotis,

A file with that extension is the project chache. Like any other cache, it stores information about the last time the project was opened into a fast-access memory location in order to speed up loading the project. You can delete it, but when I tested this, the file just gets recreated anytime you open up the project again.
