Can Veristand 2009 and Veristand 2010 be installed on the same machine?

I have VS2009 running on my machine. I would like to install VS2010 as an eval to start porting an implementation over to VS2010 before I pull the plug on VS2009. Can these bothe be installed and functional side-by-side on the same machine? Are there any caveats to bouncing back and forth between the two? I already have the prereqs listed on the VS2010 eval page (NI-DAQmx 9.1.5, NI-RIO 3.5 and NI-XNET 1.1).

You can have both NI VeriStand 2009 and 2010 on the same machine. If you developed an application in 2009, you can migrate it to 2010 using the mutation tool in 2010. However, you won't be able open a 2010 project in 2009. As well, if you have custom devices or custom workspace objects/tools they have be developed in the same version of LabVIEW as NI VeriStand. That is, NI VeriStand 2009 can only use custom devices created in LabVIEW 2009 and NI VeriStand 2010 can use run custom devices created in LabVIEW 2010.

I have an application developed outside with VS2009 and LabView2009 that I am trying to bring up at my site. My plan has been to get it functional 'as is' and then port to VS2010 since the file architecture and the API has changed between VS2009 and VS2010.

I am running LabView2010 and VS2009. At the moment I am struggling with something that seems to be totally VS2009 related. Should I anticipate potential issues running VS2009 with LabView 2010 to execute a VI that was built with VS2009 and LabView2009?

You won't be able to run NI VeriStand 2009 with LabVIEW 2010. As I mentioned in the previous post, the version of NI VeriStand and LabVIEW must match.

Hi,

I have VS2009 and VS2010 installed in my Windows XP and I can work with them without any problem.

I also tried to port my LV2009 programs to LV2010 but I got problems with VS2009 Off-line API VIs because LV2010 can not convert them. According to the error message, NI delivered the API VIs protected (without diagram).

I believe that you could not have VS2009 and 2010 in the same RT target.

Cheers.
