The times I have seen this happen is when a user is logged in that doesn't have the same permisions as someone else. For example if I open a file I can configure the database options, but if I have a tech log into TestStand the can't even see a menu option for configuring database options, becuase the access rights I have defined for techs. If this is happening for different users this is probably the problem. If it is happening for the same user this wouldn't be the case.

This behavior is actually caused by the Process Model the sequence file is using and not the sequence file itself (sequence files can use the process model that the station has specified as its default model or you can specify a specific model that the sequence file will use instead). If the specified process model contains configuration entry points in its file, then these will show up as options under the Configure menu. The 3 process models that come with TestStand 2.0 (sequential, parallel, and batch) each have a database, report, and model configuration entry point that add options to the configure menu (although the sequential model disables the model configuration entry point as it doesn't have any options to configure). You should read Chapter 14 of the TS
User Manual to find out more about process models in general and for the information that specifically pertains to this topic can be found on pg. 14-2. Here is a link to the user manual online if you cannot find it on your computer:

This is generally the right answer except that I found out on my own that when use station model is unchecked in "configure>>station options>>model tab" and use station model is selected under "edit>>sequence file properties>>advanced tab" it has no process model selected so no entry points. Somehow these had become my default settings and hence my confusion as to the missing configure items. Using the station model or selecting a process model that has configure entry points alleviates this problem.

This scenario is implied in my post. If you have no process model at all specified, then there will be no configuration entry points. A quick way for you to figure out which process model is selected for your currently displayed sequence file is by the far right section of the notification area of the sequence editor (the bottom part of the window) you will see a file path to the process model being used or you will see a message saying that there is no process model. If you double-click the path that is located in the box, it will automatically open up the process model file in a new window and you can go to the View ring control of the sequence file window to see what sequences are available inside of it (including the configuration entry points
).
