Use of custom data types

Solved!
Go to solution

It seems that if a custom data type is changed, it will still work as a parameter to a code module (LabVIEW or CVI) without changing the code module. Changing the custom data type does not appear to generate an error with the code module, neither at analysis time nor at run time. However, I cannot find any documentation about this. Anyone knows where such documentation could be found?

Are you expecting to get an error when doing this?

Does your code still perform as expected?

Could you please attach some details on what you are changing and what you are seeing versus what you expect to see?

This is an older document but it might help: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/375070c.pdf

specifically chapter 4 about Cluster Passing.  There are sections about CVI as well.

Basically it boils down to when you do cluster passing you have to "map" the cluster elements to control/indicator names.  As long as they are all mapped correctly you won't have issues.

This document does not state how TestStand handles the changes of custom data types with the modules but I suppose this is as good as it is going to get. Thank you.
