Requirements Gateway Referencing to Step's Id Part 2

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi

after posting part1

http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/Requierements-Gateway-Referencing-to-Step-s-Id/td-p/2271796

I have some futher questions about NIRG.

The referenceing  to NI-TestStand is working pretty well now, especially if the sequencefile has no sequence calls to other sequencefiles.

If there are one you will have undefined requirements of cource. Is not critical, but it is looking quite bad in the Management View if there is some thing undefined. Every manager will ask at once "Why ?".

If you do not like to explain it, you have tell NIRG the name of the matching sequencefile. Just see the screenshoot.

Now i wonder is there a possibility to exchange a variable from one type to another one ?

With this feature i am able to make a NIRG Template, where the user has to enter only the files in the Project editor and the Type editor do not care.

Hi,

The type editor is to configure a type which could fit a "type" which includes all the files in this format/type.  In the definition of a type, it might not neccessary to define a stepID with a specific file name.

I would delete the sequence file name in the type definition, since for one seq file, the name is always the same, it can not identify anything.

Does it work as your expectation, if you delete the "<Sequencefile XXXXX>"?  Or please help me understand more on this case.

Thanks.

Hi

If you delete it you will have undefined requirements if the step's sequencefile is external.

But that is not the question here.

I would like to exchange a values from one type to the other one. I would like to know
if such a feature is possible or if it is planed in future releases.

Hi,

For the feature that you mentioned, it doesn't fit to the design. As I know, there is no plan at this time to support such scenario.

Could you send me a simple exmaple to help me understand your case?

Hi,

Just see the screen shoot.

There should be a way in the TypeEditor to store a value in as named global variable.

and it should be possible to use this variable in every NIRG's type.

Hi J_dodek,

Unfortunately, the items in an XML type currently support only plain text or regular expressions.  You cannot use variables or any scripting for this field.  However, you may be able to get the functionality you are looking for using a filter.  If you can send a sample project using your custom types, I will look into a possible way to filter out the coverage links that do not target a requirement

Hi Al,

Thanks for the answer,

You may ask the administator to get my email address and send me your address to mine.

I will post the files via cryptshare to your address.

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry for the delay on getting back to you.  Unfortunately, there is no way to do this using the filters at this time.

Hi Al,

No Problem, I will use fallback option.

I will create a configurator, which will modify the .nirg file before launching NIRG
