measure output power

Hi,

how can i measure the average output power of a RF power amplifier? I tried using wattmeter. is this the way or are there other better ways? I also tried ac analysis and multipled current and voltage at the output. Are the current and voltage listed in the variable rms values or peak?

I would appreciate your helps.

Thanks!

Hi sumalama,

It depends on the circuit and what version of Multisim you are using. If you are using Multisim 14.0, there is a convenient power probe that can be used to measure the power dissipated by specific components.

You should also be able to run transient analysis and depending on where you want to make your power measurement, choose the appropriate variable from the output variables list:

I hope that helps.

Cheers,

Jeff
