how to simulate a metal detector with multisim 14.0

Hi guys, I am doing a hardware project about constructing a metal detector but I do not how to simulate the whole circuit to check the theoretical output of each stage. In addition, I do not find any information about how to achieve this. Could someone please teach me how to do it? The diagram is in the attachment.

Hey djsuol,

Welcome to the Forums.
What is the current state of your Multisim design? Feel free to attach your file.

If you need general information on how to use Multisim, then have a look at the Multisim User Guide by NI, the built-in help, and the examples shipped with the program itself. There are also plenty of tutorials available on the internet (google and youtube are your friends!).

The general steps are:

  1. Create your schematics
  2. Add probes / virtual instruments
  3. Run a simulation (menu Simulate » Analyses and simulation)
  4. Iterate, if needed.

Thanks for your reply. Two coupling coils were used in this design and I do not know how to simulate this condition in multisim.

HI Djsuol,

Looks like there are at least three ways to implement what you need: Coupling Two or More Inductors in NI Multisim. Does this help? (I don't have much experience with electrical engineering, so I might totally misunderstand your question.)

when the square wave is transmitted through the coil, it will induce a voltage spike such as the blue signal in the picture. Could you please tell me how to provide this kind of signal in the software?

Seems like you are looking for Multisim's Function Generator.
