Ultiboard Database Manager- Part not visible in preview window

It's working again today.  Not sure how that happened.  I did have a layer named DXF that I deleted in the editor.  When I opened the database again the pads were visible.

After re-starting UB the problem is back again.  I can't replicate whatever it is that fixed it.

While it was fixed my 3D component bodies in the footprint editor rendered as transparent.  May or may not be related?  This was nice as I could see all the hidden pads under the part.  After re-starting they are solid again and I don't see how to replicate the transparency again.  Anybody know?
