Thanks for the reply. I had no idea what they were for. I was just really wanting to know if they had any effect on the PCB itself. If what you remember from your training is accurate then I have nothing to be concerned about since I usually don't do any CAD type work with Ultiboard. Just PCB's
Thanks so much for your answer and your knowledge.

Lacy, Chris,
In my own personal point of view, the Assembly Layers should be listed under the other PCB Layers, rather than having their own section. As you can see they include the Paste Mask and Glue Mask layers, and these layers are useful whenever you are using paste to hold on joints or glue (adhesive) to hold on components to the board (I've seen this one mostly on SMDs). So, only if you are going to use those features on your PCB (with approval of your board manufacturer) then use those layers.
On the other hand, the Mechanical layers, are used for adding dimensions into your layout, these layers are mostly used by users that plot their layouts for documentation purposes, or that later on a mechanical engineer or technician can reference, such as the board outline for example.

Thanks Nestor. That cleared up my questions on these additional layers. I thank you for response on this. Just as an added note. It may be a nice idea to include a more expanded explaination of these additional layers in the manual. I looked in the manual and help file before I posted this question and there was no mention as to what their purpose was. It just basically said they were there and didn't go much further than that.
Thanks so much.
Have a Nice Day
