Why is security copy file created with all multisim original files?

Hi PETCHIRAJA,
If you don't wish to have a security copy of your file go to Options>> Global Preferences>> Save and uncheck this option.

but what does it do? because I once couldn't locate the original file and tried opening the security copy and couldn't open file.
