Renumber Parts error

I am running Ultiboard 14.2 Education.  When I "Renumber Parts", I get an error: "The parameter is incorrect".  Does anyone know the origin for this error and how to fix it?

This happens for both "OK" and "Apply", and also if I select as subset of the parts.

It also happens for multiple boards, so it isn't something specific to just one board.

Moreover it happens on different 14.2 installations on two machines, though they both mount the same project and Corporate and User database files.

NI support acknowledges that this problem is a bug in 14.2, and will fix it in some future release.  In the mean time, part renumbering works in 14.1

I'm now getting this problem in 14.1.  There must be a way to make it work again.  It's worked for years in 14.1.  What has changed?

I found it had to do with some test point parts.  By trial and error deleting parts until the issue resolved and then deleting those parts and re-inserting them it began to work again.

So if you have this problem just start deleting things until the problem goes away, then zero in on what part caused the problem.  There is nothing obviously wrong with the problem part, but this method resolved the issue in this case. Good luck.
