Problems with 555 Timer driver circuit.

Hello!

I am experiencing problems with a 555 timer driving the gate input of a MOSFET. Attached below is my problem:

The problem is circled in white. The output of the 555 timer randomly outputs a very low signal. This only happens when it's connected to a MOSFET. Why is this happening?

Upon opening and closing Multisim, the issue occurs a lot less often.

Removing the voltage regulator gets rid of the issue entirely. This is a bit contradictory, considering the that the voltage regulator should be supplying a more stable voltage than the 12V battery.

I will continue to investigate why this behavior is happening.
