I have just started to learn electronics. Today I build a simple circuit basing on ohm's law and it is not working. Please help and advise. Thank you.
My calculations are as follows:
We need to protect every component in the circuit.
Using Ohm's Law,
V1 = I1 * R1
1.5 = 0.1 * R1 ( The maximum safe current that can pass through the switch = 0.1 A )
R1 = 15 Ω
Thus we need a 15 Ω resistor to protect S1.
P = I2 * V
10 = I2 * 12
I2 = 10/12 ( safe current through lamp )
V2 = I2 * R2
12 = ( 10/12) * R2
R2 = 14.4 Ω
My question: Why is the lamp not lighting with R1 as
