How to place more than one circuit (these circuits are the same with each other) in a board!

I want to place more than one circuit in a board, these circuit are the same with each other! Just like placing the component array in a board, the difference is that  the element of  array  is not a component but a circuit!

If I understand this correctly you want the same circuit repeated multiple times on a single board. If this is the case it is called panelization and you can do this with Ultiboard. I am not entirely familiar with how it works, but I believe you can just copy your circuit and paste it to another area of the board. I haven't used this technique and that is why my knowledge is limited on this.

The one drawback that I have read about in the forum is the fact that when you paste multiple copies of the same circuit Ultiboard changes the reference designations. For example If the first circuit had Resitors with designations from R1-R3 then the next copy would start labeling the resistors from R4 on. There is a workaround for this, but I can't remeber exactly how to do it.

Chris or the NI Team knows more about this than I do. Maybe they can assist further.

I hope this helps some and I apologize in advance in my information is incorrect in any way.

Dear lacy,

Thanks so much for your help!

My problem is exactly what you have said !

Firstly, I used the method, using the function of copy and paste, to solve this problem, but I think there must be a more appropriate method in Ultiboard!

May you tell me how to contact with the Chris or NI team?

Thanks again!

best regards

Ryan

Hi, Lacy,

Another question is that I can not find the "panelization" in the file of "ultiboard help" !

Could you tell me where i can find some guides for the use of
panelization?

thanks a lot!

the software does not allow or have an option for panelization. You'll need a third party tool called gerbtool to create your board arrays, or the pcb house must do it for you. Ultiboard doesn't support this properly.

The only other way to do it in which your design must be absolute is to hide every single component refdes and MANUALLY type it in as text and the copy and paste the arrays you need. You'll have to ignore all DRC errors assuming the master pcb is ABSOLUTE.

Good luck

Thanks Chris for you response to this question. I knew you were more familiar with this than I am. Your input is always greatly appreciated.
