Hello,

To create a custom pad follow the next steps:

Create the custom pad shape with a new reference point:

  1. Select Database» Database Manager.
  2. Above the Parts column, select the first icon (symbol of a perforated box).
  3. Click on Custom Pad Shape.
  4. Create the rectangular shape and set the reference point, Design» Set Reference Point. The reference will indicate where the drill hole is located.
  5. Save the pad and exit the editor.

To create the part:

  1. Select Tools» Database» Database Manager.
  2. Above the Parts column, select the first icon (symbol of a perforated box).
  3. Click on PCB part.
  4. Once you are in the Footprint Editor select Place» Pins
  5. A new window will open and select THT pin.
  6. For TOP, Inner, and Bottom use the drop-down menu and select Custom.
  7. For each layer select the custom pad that was created.
  8. Select OK and you will be able to place custom pad.
  9. Remember to reduce the annular ring if needed

In the footprint editor, right-click on the pad and edit other properties like pad shape, size, and hole.

Regards,

José F.

Thanks for this... very helpful.

Question now is I am trying to make a slotted hole for thru-hole tabs on a connector.  I can make the pad I want but how to I make the hole elongated?

EDIT:  I found the answer.  There is a Advanced Hole option on the pin setup tab that I have missed many times.  That's the answer
