upper limit of temerature measurement with SCXI-1328

I am using SCXI-1328 terminal block for temperature measurement.
Now I want to measure high temperature up to 800C using K type thermocouple.
But DAQmx has a maximum value of 100C.
When I use traditional DAQ, temperature increases up to 125C and remain constant at its maximum point.
I set a gain as 50, as voltage could be around 30mV at such high temperature.
If I just read voltage, value is continuously increasing
However, if I read temperature value stops increasing at 125C.
I wonder if DAQ has limit in temperature measurement.
Please tell me what is the problem with me.

Thanks~

Hello,

Have you tried changing the input range of your temperature task in MAX? To do this, open Measurement and Automation Explorer, create a Temperature Task, and on the settings tab change the input limits (MAX and MIN) to the max and min temperature values that you are expecting.

Please let me know if this works.

Regards,

LA

P.S: What DAQ board and SCXI Module do you have?

Thanx~!
Your information helped me.
However, by this method I cannot measure in high speed.
I need at least 20Hz of sampling speed, but now it seems to be 2Hz or so.
Could you please tell me how to increase the speed of it?

Hello,

I'm glad I was of help. In order to help you out with this new issue, I need you to tell me what SCXI module you have. Maybe the bandwidth of your module is small and that's why you can only sample at slow rates. You can check the Specifications section of the Product Manual of your module for more information on this.

Thanks,

LA

Thanks for your kind answer.
FYI, I am using SCXI-1120 as a module.
And PCI-M20-16XE-10 as a DAQ card.
I changed bandwidth from 4Hz to 10,000Hz but the result is same as before.

Hello efour,

What other modules do you have in the chassis?
How many channels are you reading?

The maximum scan rate depends on several factors. For example, the max speed will be limited to the slowest module in the SCXI chassis.
So, a module that can go 333kS/s will be only able to go 100kS/s if a 100kS/s module is in the same chassis. The number of channels will also play a part in the speed of a single channel. For example, a 10kS/s module with a single channel will read 10kS/s off of that single channel. If you add a channel, each channel will be able to go 5kS/s or 10kS/s divided by 2 channels.

Hope this helps!
