serial protocol, NI-USB-9162, carrier

What is the protocol at serial input to NI-USB-9162 carrier?  RS232?

The D Sub connector uses SPI communication with a proprietary format.  Is there something that you need the USB carrier to do that it doesn't do currently?

At which side? And what are you trying to do with it?

The computer interface is USB.

The C Series module interface is proprietary-- it isn't RS232. (Also, that's a DE-15 connector, not a DE-9.)

If you're trying to develop a module, you may want to look into the C Series Module Development Kit, but they'll only work in a CompactRIO chassis. The architecture for the USB-9162 is such that the device has to know how to interface directly with each module, which is why it supports a limited number of modules (all of which are NI-only).

I was thinking we might have an option to bypass the carrier, going to an RS232 on a USB Hub.  I now know that is not an option.  Thanks, Dan
