Hi,

For a data acquisition board to be operational, you must install the device driver which is deliver with. If you own a DAQ board, it is likely to be supported by NI-DAQ driver.

To properly install a NI board, you must follow the following process :
1 - Validate that the development software is installed on the PC.
2 - Install the device drivers on the PC.
3 - Shut down your computer and plug in the DAQ board.
4 - Power on the computer.

When the device drivers are installed, they usually install device drivers API which enables you to program the board with a set of functions.
When the PC is power on, the device must be detected and properly installed. Then you can open MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer) which will attribute a d
evice number to the DAQ board. This device number will be use to identify the DAQ board when you will develop you application.

To have more accurate information, please give me the board reference. I will answer you as soon as possible.

Repsected sir,
i m facing a similar kind of problem. i have purchased the NI-usb 6009 along with the Ni DAQmx software  ver. 8.3. Initially I installed the product on a WinXP Platform in which Labview was not installed. The device worked accordingly,no problems.

But when i tried to use the same USB using the same driver sftware in a different WinXP PC where Labview 8.2 is installed, the Daq shows "No supported Devices found " .But the MAX does detects the Device in the devices and interface section . Also there are no built in options like self test and the test panels are completely different totally unlike in the previous case. here the test panels include The VISA test but in the previous PC no such thing was seen.

                        plz help

Hi Saptarshi,

When you try to use the USB-6009 on the other computer, does the No supported devices found appear in the DAQ Assistant as well? As a basic check on your software install I would follow the steps outlined in this tutorial for the DAQ Assistant. The USB-6009 should not be tested using the VISA test panel as the NI-DAQmx driver should provide you with a test panel.

Once you have gone through the DAQ Assistant tutorial you can ensure that communication between LabVIEW and MAX is correct. If this does not work please post back.
