need help with "daq assistant"

I am fairly new at using labview so please forgive any stupid
questions i ask.

I am merely trying to create a simple program just to test the
functionality of my daq. I used the daq assistant to create an output
on my ni usb 6008. However, after i specify the inputs all i see are
"data", "error in", "stop", "timeout", "error out" and "task out".
The closest thing I can figure is that task out is hte output, but
when i try to create a line, it has a x on the line. Is there another
way to do this or am i completely doing this wrong? Thanks

Phil are you trying to generate an analog output from your DAQ card?

also use the Menu>>Help>>Show context help,  feature on your block diagram to learn about the functions.

Just point to a function (even a broken wire) on the block diagram using cursor tool and the  help window will display the relevant information

The 'output' of the DAQ Assistant when using it to generate and analog output is - an analog output for the 6008. It's a physical thing called volts. It doesn't generate a software signal. If you want to verify that it's actually working, I would recomend you use a piece of test equipment. There are instruments called oscilliscopes that are particularly suitable.
