mysterious 1.2988

Hi,

My PCI-MIO-16E-4 card was working fine until today. For some reason, it
reads 1.2988 on channel 0, 1,2, 3,4, 7 all the time. I short channel 0 (pin
34-68) and still get 1.2988. I use a multimeter and voltage drop is indeed
zero (they are short!).

Does anybody have an idea why this happens? Does this mean the card is dead?
What could have I done to kill the card? Is it possible that the card
is damaged because of a large gain?

Thank you.

Dear friend,

try to test the board in devices and interfaces on the measurement and automation
directory. i don´t think the board is damaged is very dificult to destroy.

Tell me the results,

Augusto

Hi Yung-Hsiang Lu

I had a faulty PCI-MIO-16E-4 that showed the full scale range value irrespective of the range and channel (eg the card read
+5.000V on the 5V range and +2.500V on the 2.5V range).
I sent it away and the NI people confirmed the card was faulty they then fixed and returned it. I visually checked the card and it
showed signs of the regulator having been fixed. This makes sense I guess, if the analog regulator is faulty on the card then the
A-D would probably read a default binary value which would be scaled by the software for the set range of the card.
I have since heard of another user of this card having the same trouble and I recommend to you what I recommended to him and that
is to send it to NI to get fixed. It is possible that NI had
a bad batch of cards with intermittent regulator problems.
