mixing of traditional daq and daq mx

I am a user of PXI based daq system. I would like make use of traditional daq such as the PXI-4060 dmm and daq mx card such as the PXI-6229 multifunction card in a single PXI chassis. I am wondering whether the computer with LabView 6.1 have the capability to have both drivers for traditional daq and daq mx installed?

On one hands, would I still be abled to use the E-series daq accesories in the daq mx card as above?

Please proposed a sources of help  manuals as a reference.

Hi Curious,

I have a bit of bad news.

NI-DAQmx is only supported by LabVIEW 7.0 and later.

This means that M Series DAQ boards can not be programmed in versions of LabVIEW prior to 7.0.

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/D71534B93E1FF62D86256F70005A040C  read this link.

Well, if you move on to labVIEW 7.0 or higher, you can have both traditional DAQ and DAQmx supported devices running on same PXI system.( however, do read this link http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/F2DFF1D7B50A0820862570C100602EA8 before that, it will help you choose DAQ version if you shift to higher version of LabVIEW)

E series has support for both traditional DAQ and DAQ mx. so no bother which version of NI DAQ driver you use.

M Series however, is only supported By DAQmx.

so these are your options

  • You may use E Series DAQ card( with traditional DAQ) and your DMM card with LabVIEW 6.1
  • For using M series, you will have to install to LabVIEW 7.0 or higher

Hope this helps

further doubts? do get back

Regards

Dev
