i need to output a pulse train signal, while reading an analog signal. what kind of board do i need?

i was under the impression that E-series boards can't do digital pattern i/o. is this true? is there i way i can use the counters on the e-series boards to do this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are correct that the DIO lines on the E-series cards are not hardware timed, but to output a pulse train you will want to use a counter instead of a DIO line. The counters are designed to output a pulse train. You can do counter operations while measuring analog input using an E-Series board.
