Which module to use with Endevco 8350C?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello all,

It's been a couple of months that I try to connect an Endevco 8350C-100 pressure transducer to my NI cDAQ 9174 chasis . I've had used an NI9237 with no avail, since the common-mode voltage was out of range when outputing a 10V excitation. It was working at 5V excitation, but pressure readings were off by 10%. So I've decided to return it and try a more appropriate module.

The link to the pressure transducer: https://buy.endevco.com/8530c-pressure-27.html

I would really love your help and input as to which NI module to use with it.

Thanks,

Ariel.

Hi Ainmor,

Thanks for the link to the Endevco 8350C.

The Currents models NI have for Strain and Bridge are NI-9237, 9236 ,9235 ,9219 ,9218.

The 9237 is the one that has 10 V excitation.

You can check in the datasheet the input noise http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/374186a_02.pdf

Did you try to calibrate the device using the Endevco and see if the error gets down?

The output common voltage is outside the 4-6V (V_ex/2 +-1V) window?

That's bad. Well one could cheat (one small silveroxide batterie in each of the output lines shift the common mode voltage by 1.55V) .. however a recalibration at a lower bridge supply would be the way to go.

How do you calibrate? Static or dynamic ?

(With dynamic calibration the pulse shape together with the 'low' samplerate can have unexpected results 😉 )
