What is the max analog/digital input frequency of the USB DAQ 6008?

I would like to know what is the maximum analog/digital input frequency of the DAQ USB 6008. The datasheet specifies 10kS/s, but there is a timing resolution of 24 MHz, and also a max  input of 5MHz for the counter. Thanks in advance.

spyker,

For analog input, the datasheet specification of 10kS/s is correct. The 24MHz resolution means that the exact frequeny specified must be an integer division of 24MHz. In other words, the period between samples must be a multiple of (1/24000000) seconds. The 5MHz counter limitation is the highest frequency signal that the 6008 will not miss edges of when counting pulses. As for the DIO pins, they are software timed and cannot be correlated to a clock.

Hope this helps,

To Ryan V.,

Thank you very much for your response. Be so kind to clarify if this means that I can only input a signal with a max frequency of 5kHz because of the 10kS/s limit (Nyqyst)?

Thanks again in advance.

Leonidas,

That is correct. 10kS/s means that you cannot have frequency content in your signal higher than 5kHz without aliasing. Additionally, the 10kS/s is aggregate over all channels. This means that if you want to sample all 8 channels, then your maximum sampling rate will be 1.25kS/s per channel, or a bandwidth of 625Hz.

Hope this helps,
