What happens during hardware configuration?

I was wondering if you would describe what happens at the hardware level when a DAQmx card (NI 6251 PCI) is configured?

I have noticed that if I configure the hardware, start a task, stop a task, reconfigure the hardware and start the task again, that this takes up to 250 ms.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hello Kevin,

For more information on how a DAQ board is configured with the NI-DAQmx driver, please refer to the NI-DAQmx Help, specifically the section NI-DAQmx Key Concepts >> Tasks >> Task State Model.  If you understand the task state model in DAQmx, you can reduce the time required to restart a task by first committing the task before starting it.  For a good example of how to do this in LabVIEW, refer to the shipping example Acq&Graph Voltage-Int Clk-SW Trig Restarts.vi.

Hope this helps!
