Unable to output/measure an analog output signal

My labview prorgram has been working for several weeks. Today however I am unable to either generate or measure an analog output signal. When monitoring the output signal with a seperate multimeter the values appear correct. However when tring to run the program the data appears similar to if the DAQ is disconnected from the breakout box. When testing the signal with the measurement and automation explorer my input channels measure a -5V dc signal, which is independent of the analog output. I am using a PCI 6052E card which is less then a month old and a SCB68 connector box.

You tell that 'unable to either generate or measure an analog output signal' but, you also mention that 'When monitoring the output signal with a seperate multimeter the values appear correct' are you talking about the outtpu that you are generating on your DAQ card AO channel??

Can you please explain your problem with more clarity, so we can suggest better?

Yes I did a little more testing on the set up and it is the analog input voltage channel that in not working porperly. The output channel is outputting the correct waveform. The issue is that inbetween runs of my lab view program that channel stopped recording data. If I connect the analog output directly to any input channel I see no waveform with just a small dc offset, tens of millivolts. Oddly the test panels on the measurement and automation explorer show -5v. any suggestions on what this is?

Hi edmiles,

Did anything change in your setup between the time it was working and now?  Also, have you or are you able to try reading in an input from somewhere other than the same card?  Do the input lines work if you input a signal or known voltage from somewhere external?  Are you using the DAQmx drivers?
One other thing you could try would be trying this card in a different computer and see if you get the same results.

Let us know what happens on your end.  Have a great day!

Set up is identical to the one that was working, I have tried reading a signal from a function generator but get no signal. The output signal can be read on a scope. I am using the 8.1 drivers. different computer provides no different results.

I think it would be best at this point to generate a service request and call in to technical support.  Your card may need to be sent in for repair.  You can go to http://www.ni.com/support and choose Phone NI, or you can call 1-866-275-6964.  This will allow you to speak with an Applications Engineer to troubleshoot your 6052E and determine if you need to send it in for repair.

Have a great day!
