I have been working with a USB-4431 on a USB 2.0 port without problems. I moved to a new Laptop that has USB 3.1 and it says USB Device not recognized. The USB-4431 is P/N 198755A-01L, SN 14CE6EF.
I Have read: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Multifunction-DAQ/NI-cdaq-9174-not-recognized-DAQmx-9-8/m-p/2796750/highligh... but changing machines isn't the best solution. The USB ports appear to be Intel. I am currently running in Windows 7.0.
The ports work fine with my USB stick and USB hard drive which are both 2.0.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for posting in our discussion forums. The 4431 was designed for USB 2.0 communications. It is not guaranteed to work with USB 3.0 or 3.1 ports, but may be possible if the USB Host controller driver is updated. I know it talks specifically about USB DAQ devices, but the steps to try are still applicable in this situation. I have no knowledge about our current R&D status for USB 3.0 support. Information about USB 3.0 support for specific devices will be released as it is made available, if it does become a feature. I cannot say that this will happen for your device, or which devices will support it in the future. But we appreciate your support and interest; thanks for choosing NI!
Any chance of it working if you plug it into a USB 2.0 hub that is connect to your USB 3.0 port? Just a thought.
I received a new laptop with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. It still gives the same error. There has got to be something else that is causing this problem. Any ideas?
Is there a specific error you see in MAX, and are you able to see the device as a USB device in Windows Device Manager?
I have attached the troubleshooting steps I went through to narrow down the problem. I have connected numerous other non-NI devices to the laptop withough trouble. It appears to be just the NI device. I have attached the MAX troubleshooting report to further assist.
