TI PGA300 connection to NI USB 6212 for data acquisition

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently utilizing the Texas Instruments PGA300 EVM board for the temperature compensation of my pressure sensor, which has a 0-5V analog output. I have successfully performed the compensation using the Texas Instruments software.

My question is, after completing the compensation process, is it possible to obtain the compensated voltage output directly from the PGA300 EVM board and input it into the NI USB 6212 analog inputs?

I attempted to connect Vout (TP30) and Vgnd (TP37) to the AI+ and AI- terminals of the USB6212, but this configuration did not yield any results. I also checked the Vout using a multimeter and found no output.

Could you please suggest a method to obtain the compensated values from the EVM board and input them into the NI USB 6212? Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My final goal is to acquire the compensated data from PGA300 to LabVIEW VI where I have other sensors connected in for data acquisition.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Jarir

This seems possible. The link you provided to the eval board is broken for me, and I couldn't find anything else on the web. If you have a PDF that is on your desktop, please send that. The web is throwing an error 404 page not found.

I like the idea of probing with a multimeter first. Then once you see something there, head over to NI MAX Test Panels and go through the input configuration options of RSE and DIFF to find which would work better for you.

With the multimeter probing, the points you listed (TP for test points?), are they listed in the eval board datasheet? It might be of use to play with the settings found in the main datasheet as shown as a picture below.

Maybe you need to make changes to the software to configure the gain stages to RSE or DIFF? Also, on the eval board, can you send a close up picture so we can see where the test points are? On board or header pins?

Thanks for your time.

The picture you send me refers how the external temperature sensor will be connected to the evaluation board. However, I am referring to another sensor that can be connected which is a pressure sensor. I need to compensate the pressure sensor in regards to temperature.

I am not sure what the full form of tp is. But, these are the pins in the evaluation board. Please check "PGA300 EVM used Guide.pdf" page 17 figure 15. You will find tp30 to Vout and tp39 to Vgnd. That's why I thought that I can get compensated voltage output from those pins.

You will find the closer picture and circuit diagram on the EVM user guide as attached. I did not find anything helpful on texas instruments website too.

I have attached PGA300 Data sheet and PGA300 GUI user guide with this message too.

Thanks again.

Your problem is that a DAQ, unlike a DMM, cannot have a floating input.  There needs to be a ground reference, even with differential inputs.  In this case, you need to connect Vgnd on the dev board to AIGND on the USB-6212 and change the input type to Reference Single Ended.
