Status LED not illuminating on USB-6009

We've recently added a USB-6009 Multifunction device to our lab equipment.  It has been working fine but today during an experiment, the device's status LED went off and now the device no longer operates or is recgonized by M&A explorer.  I suspect we wiped out the Silicon Labs C8051F320 IC but have no way to troubleshoot.  Any ideas?

Forgot to mention that when the usb cable is attached, Windows detects a USB-6xxx firmware loader and appears to load the software for this device.

Hello Dave,

There are a few things that you could try.  First of all you mentioned that the device seems to be recognized by windows.  Is it listed correctly in the Windows Device manager?  If it shows up in the Device Manager with a yellow exclamation point you might want to look at the knowledge base here.  If it is showing up correctly you might look at another knowledgebase here.  This second article doesn't exactly address your issue but it does walk you through a few steps to make sure the correct driver is being used.

The green LED should always be blinking if the device is plugged in and working properly.  If the LED never lights up and you have configured the device to use the correct driver, then the device may have been damaged and you should call into National Instruments customer support to possibly get the device repaired.  If you have any other questions or if any of the above works please let me know.

Have a great day,

Brian,

Thank you for your response.  The LED would not illuminate but when I took the device home, it began to work.  Go figure.  It is working just fine now.  I suspect some sort of driver problem.  Thanks again for the help.

On my 6008 I have noticed that if I stress the USB cable or jiggle it about at the 6008 end, sometimes the LED will go out. Just my observation.
