We have a USB-6229 that is failing self calibration. The calibration message states that the on-board reference voltage needs to be recalibrated. We do not own a NI calibrator. Has anyone tried to adjust the internal reference voltage? Is there a procedure somewhere on NI's website?

NI will calibrate for a reasonable fee. Contact their support. At my work we can do the older 12bit cards in house but all our 16bit DAQs get sent in yearly for full NIST cal, whether they need it or not.

Hi Fig,
There is also a procedure available on the website if you want to do the external calibration adjustment yourself:

Adjusting the analog reference is pretty simple, but you will need a stable, high accuracy voltage source (accurate to 10 ppm). If such a source is not available, you may alternatively use a DMM in conjunction with a less accurate (but stable) voltage source.
As the previous poster mentioned NI does provide this service as well if you would like to send the unit somewhere else for calibration.
Best Regards,
