SCXI 1000 Not Found

I am setting up a system using a PCI-1200 DAQ card and a SCXI-1000
chassis with a SCXI-1140 module in the first slot, SCXI-1163R modules
in the second and third slots and a SCXI-1200 module in the fourth slot.
A ribbon cable connects the PCI-1200 board to the SCXI-1140 module.

I am using LV 5.1 and NI-DAQ 6.5 on a Windows 98 machine.

After installing the PCI-1200 and starting-up the PCI-1200 was
recognized by Windows. I launched Measurement and Automation Explorer
(M&AE) and tested the card. It seems to work. Then I tried to install
the SCXI Chassis and its modules. The modules were not recognized. I
tried adding them manually. When I tried to test them I received an
error message that the modules were not present. I tried
testing the
chassis. I receive an "Not Able to Test the Chassis at This Time".

I have checked the ribbon cable. It is connected. I have tried turning
off the computer and chassis, turning on the chassis then the
computer.
Nothing seems to work. Help!!!

Try removing the SCXI-1200 from the chassis. At one time it would drive
the communication lines even when it wasn't set as the communication
path to the chassis. IIRC the workaround was to set the digital I/O
port on the SCXI-1200 to output and set the outputs low. Only one of
the ports is used for the SCXI communication but I can't remember which
one. On the other hand maybe this problem has been fixed and something
else is at fault.

The good folks at NatInst Tech support were able to help on this one.
I had to move the SCXI-1200 to the first slot in the SCXI-1000 chassis
and then use a parallel port connection to the computer. I am not
using the PCI-1200 card. The SCXI-1140 was moved to slot 4. Now
everything works (except I had to add another PP to my computer.
Thanks.
