Reading voltage applied at NI 9263 possible?

Setting a voltage to the analog outputs of the NI 9263 is easy, but is there any possibility to read the voltage that is already applied when you start the program?

Usually besides changing settings of a device it's also possible to get the current status. I can't find a proper command to read any settings from the NI 9263. Any ideas?

I have need some additional information about your question. Using the NI 9263 in which system? (cDAQ, cRIO,...)

If you disconnect your system from the power supply you always have the "Power-on output state" (see manual) with channels off.

Thanks for your reply! I am using the NI9263 in combination with a NI cDAQ-9178 chassis. The voltage controlled by the module is used to guide a tip 20 nm above a surface. A strong change in the voltage will cause a crash of the tip with the surface (one day of work for repairing) . Therefore it's important to know the current voltage so that the program is able to increase it slightly.

thanks for this information. As I already said the Power-on update state is channel off (means 0 V). So if you restart your cRIO you know the output voltage. If the program is running I think you know the voltage too (because you set it up programatically). So, in which special case you need to know the output voltage? Maybe you have AI module in you cDAQ so you can read the voltage.

Sure , it's possible to read the voltage externally. That's what I do right know. The disadvantage is that I need an analog input channel for each analog output channel. It's probably also possible to save the last voltage set to the output somewhere and to read it again when the program starts. I was just confused that there is no command to get the real voltage set at the device. I already programmed a couple of devices and besides a command to set a value there was always a get-command to read the current status of the device. Does something similar exists for the NI9263?

Hello Stephan,

I my opinion nothing similar exits for our NI 9263. Its a Analog Output Module with no source control. If you need something like that maybe you should use a source measure unit (smu) especially if you need to handle something in such ranges. Hope this helps you.
