Hello all!
I am having some problems with the signal acquisition of some DC-output sensors (0-5V). I have an SCB-68 that is connected to a PCI-6143 and I am using Labview to acquire and visualize the inputs. On my SCB-68 board, I have a few sensors that are soldered to some particular channels. My problem is that I don't know how to select the input to visualize those channels. Here's a table of my setup:
Say that I want to use the sensors 1, 5 and 6. When I go to Labview, all that I see as inputs of my PCI board is a0, a1, a2, a3, a4, a5, a6, a7. Is there I way that I could say that my Sensor 1 is going to be my a3, my sensor 5 is going to be my a4 and my sensor 6 is going to be my a5? Could this be configured using NI MAX so that when I go to Labview to select the physical channels I see 'Sensor 1', 'Sensor5', and 'Sensor 6'?
I am pretty new using Labview...
I appreciate your help!
David

Hello all!
An update:
I checked the readings that I have and they do not make much sense to me. There are two channels (ai3, ai7) reading 5V without any sensor switched on. Do you guys have an idea of how does this work? I would like to have the channels configured as I mentioned above...
I really appreciate your help!
David

Hey David,
I don't think it's possible to change channel names either on NI MAX or LabVIEW. You can change a device name but not an specific channel name. I hope this helps!

If I understand your question correctly, you will definitely want to use MAX. If you go to the LabVIEW forum there is a section at the top for LabVIEW training resources that has some links. You could also do a Google search for NI Max tutorial to find info spread all over the internet.
The short(ish) version is that you will want to go into MAX and create Global Virtual Channels. Probably acquire signals - analog input - voltage.
Then choose the physical channel on the correct equipment listed and then name the channel. Then setup the configuration for the channel. Once you have all your channels entered you will need to build a task to read any of the virtual channels you created and choose the timing settings for the task. Then you can read the all the channels in that task using LabVIEW.

Sorry, I just read that you were talking about physical channels.
