NiDAQmx Linux support for PCIe boards

Hello.

We are using PCI-6281 and thinking to move to PCI express.

In NIDAQmx 8.0.2 Readme I see only PCIe-6251/PCIe-6259

but on its page  I saw that it's recomeded to move to PCIe-6351 X Series instead.

But it seems any of X Series board is't supported by NIDAQmx on Linux.

Is it right ?

Thanks,

  Andrew

That is correct. NI-DAQmx 8.0.2 for Linux does not support X Series.

Where I can find what are the differences (what added / removed / fixed ) in 8.0.2.

In http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2322/lang/en I can only see the support for LV 8.6

  was added.

I guess supported hardware is the same as in 8.0, December 2005.

Or in other words boards introduced after 2005 aren't supported.

Am I right ?

If it so. Are there any plans for support X Series devices in NIDAQmx ?

Thanks,

  Andrew

The 8.0.x releases have been primarily to support newer LabVIEW versions and newer Linux distributions, but the supported hardware is, as you noted, the same as in 8.0.

The 'Description' for that file refers to 8.0.1 but actually means 8.0.2. The difference between the two is distribution support:

* According to the README, 8.0.1 supports Mandriva Linux 2007 and 2008; and openSUSE 10.3 and 11.0.

* According to the README, 8.0.2 supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop + Workstation 5; Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 4; and openSUSE 11.3, 11.2, and 11.1

I can't comment on plans for X Series on DAQmx for Linux, but please fill out a product suggestion; this helps us know what features are in high demand so we can prioritize appropriately.
