Ni 9215 Voltage measurement

Hello, I'm trying to measure voltages with the NI 9215 card. If i connect a battery to any channel I get the correct Voltage measurement however, if i try to read the data from a channel with no battery connected, i either get a value of -10.37V or some random value. Shouldn't the card read 0V?
